Design
Carr 7 Series Casework is designed for the unique requirements of medical, laboratory and institutional environments. It is intended to be functional and highly durable for daily use. These attributes are distilled into a unique design featuring a clean, uncluttered appearance. Cabinets meet all applicable industry standards such as MILSPEC.
Construction
Double wall construction throughout. The cabinet body basic structure consists of two outer body panels formed into a pan with front bends of 1." and .75" creating the vertical channels. Onto this is heli-arc welded a single back panel with strengthening channel bends at top and bottom. Across the front between the outer body panels, two heavy gauge horizontal channel beams are full perimeter welded contributing to lateral stability. Onto this assembly is placed the outer top and bottom with 1" and .75" bends creating the horizontal channels which serve to cover the horizontal beam and it's welds. Into the interior sides go another panel bent into a pan section that contain the built-in ladder perforations. Into the inner top and bottom go another pan section panel. These panels create the flush interior with no dead spaces. The panels are heli-arc welded to the outer body and serve as load bearing members, creating an integral, highly rigid structure. Cabinet front face is flush with no overlapping metal. To this is welded a base with toe space consisting of a series of steel channels welded at the corners. The fully enclosed cabinet body is then sealed and caulked for moisture and leak resistance.
Doors
Double pan construction, 5/8" thick, sound insulation core, doubler panel hinge support.
Drawers
Welded to form a single integral unit with completely smooth drawer pan free of screw heads or spot welds.
Shelves
Fully height adjustable in .500" increments. Ladders flush perforations in cabinet walls.
Drawer Slides
Ball bearing type, full extension, maximum 100 lbs. per drawer.
Handles
Stainless steel with nylon inserts on 4" centers secured with two # 10-32 phillips screws and two lock washers accessible from interior.
Door Catches
Two rotating .25 diameter nylon rollers with chromium plated spring steel receptacles.
Locks
Optional locks have replaceable cores, keyed the same or randomly keyed as required.
Hinges
Hinges are full door height piano hinges instead of two small separate hinges for maximum weight distribution, longer life and effortless operation. Hinge metal is .170 thick. Pin is .100 diameter. Hinges are heli-arc welded and riveted to cabinet body on reinforced sills and doors. Self lubricating with tested life of 750,000 cycles.
Steel
Electro-galvanized micro-flat sheet, paint lock coating, free of rust, dents or scratches.
Stainless
Type 304 with number 4 finish, free of rust, dents or scratches.
Metal Gauges
Body, doors 14 gauge (composite 2 layers of .020). Back panels and horizontal reinforcement beams 18 gauge. Shelves, drawers, 20 gauge.
Glass
Tempered safety glass, .250" thick, clear, gasketed, removable.
Welds
Heli-arc welded and resistance spot welded, ground smooth and polished.
Paint Finish
All steel cabinets receive a powder coated finish after a 3 step wash and cleaning process. The painted finish has an average thickness of 1.5 mil. The finish provides very good scratch, abrasion, chip and chemical resistance.
Sealants
FDA Approved food grade sealants, exceeds ASTM Spec C-834, 35 year durability.
